Palestine suffers from a long overdue political status quo, characterized by a lack of unifying leadership. Simultaneously, support from the international political community for a just peace in Palestine is waning. Young Palestinian civilians now call upon themselves to take the lead towards change by being advocates for the Palestinian struggle for justice. The campaign "migrating messages" will gather letters from Palestinian children, women and men from all layers of society; from farmers to fishermen, sellers, journalists, academics and the unemployed. In a personal manner these people will explain what their life in Palestine is like, shedding light on the political, social and cultural reality of life under occupation. The crisis in Palestine is a political one, not a humanitarian one and therefore requires change on the political front. However, we feel that the world has a wrong image of Palestine and "the Palestinian". In order for change to take place, the voices from people on the ground need to be given a stage to communicate with the outside world A delegation of young Palestinians will deliver these letters to a global audience: letters from children will be delivered to children; those of the women will be read by women and those of the men by men, preferably from the same social class.
Mission
Our mission is to clarify the political and social reality of life in Gaza and the West Bank from a civilian perspective instead of a political one. The letters will shed a personal light on what life under occupation is like.
Vision
This campaign calls for change, which can only come about with global support. We hope to establish or reach existing groups in each country that are willing to advocate for change in Palestine and pressure their political representatives to move towards policies for a just peace in Palestine.
Objectives
• Create new ways to pressure Israel as an occupying power to respect international law in support of freedom and independence for the Palestinian people.
• Activating young people to become representatives and advocates for justice in Palestine.
• Consult people worldwide to brainstorm on ideas in support of peace and justice.
• Promote a culture of expression through writing about the Palestinian cause.
• Influencing global public opinion on the political, social and economic reality of Palestine to become supporters for the rights Palestinians are entitled to.
• Encourage Palestinians to speak with one voice to represent the Palestinian issue.
• Creating a culture of understanding to connect to different places around the world.
